Section 01

Commitment to Accuracy & Transparency

At MoesNutritionCalculator.org, we believe nutrition information should be transparent, research-backed, and easy to understand. Our calculator and nutrition content are developed using publicly available restaurant nutrition information, government databases, scientific nutrition references, and established food composition resources.

Our goal is to provide users with practical estimates that are as accurate and reliable as possible while remaining transparent about the inherent limitations of restaurant nutrition data.

Section 02

Primary Data Sources

The following sources form the core foundation of our nutrition calculator and content.

🌮
Official Moe's Southwest Grill Nutrition Information

The foundation of our calculator is based on publicly available information released by Moe's Southwest Grill. This includes official nutrition PDFs, ingredient statements, allergen guides, menu customization information, serving size references, and product descriptions.

Restaurant data is reviewed periodically, as menus, ingredients, suppliers, and preparation methods may change over time.

🏛️
USDA FoodData Central

We use the USDA FoodData Central database as one of our primary reference systems for validating ingredient-level nutritional estimates and macro calculations. It is one of the most respected nutrition databases globally, providing standardized nutrient profiles for thousands of foods and ingredients.

📌
U.S. FDA Nutrition Labeling Standards

Our nutrition presentation format follows general guidance from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration regarding nutrition labeling practices, serving size interpretation, and nutrient disclosure standards. FDA resources inform how calorie values, macronutrients, sodium, sugars, and other nutrition metrics are displayed and interpreted.

Additional Scientific & Ingredient Databases

We cross-reference nutrition values with established food composition databases and ingredient references used in nutrition science and dietetics research. These supplementary sources include:

  • FoodData Central (USDA) — primary macro validation
  • Nutritionix database references
  • Open Food Facts — open-source ingredient data
  • Peer-reviewed nutrition publications
  • Standard food composition references
  • Public ingredient specifications

Section 04

Research Methodology

Our process for building and maintaining nutrition estimates follows a structured, multi-step approach designed to maximize accuracy and minimize the impact of data variability.

01
Multi-Source Verification

Whenever possible, nutrition estimates are cross-checked across multiple sources to reduce inconsistencies caused by serving size variation, ingredient substitutions, regional supplier differences, recipe changes, and preparation methods.

02
Portion Size Analysis

Restaurant serving sizes are one of the largest variables in calorie estimation. Our methodology considers standard restaurant serving references, public nutrition disclosures, typical portion measurements, and ingredient-density comparisons.

03
Continuous Review Process

Nutrition data is periodically reviewed and updated when official restaurant data changes, menu items are modified, new ingredient information becomes available, or nutritional databases are updated.

Section 06

Important Limitations

While we strive for accuracy, restaurant nutrition information is inherently variable. Actual values may differ due to the following factors:

  • Human variation in food preparation
  • Ingredient substitutions at time of order
  • Portion inconsistency across locations
  • Seasonal and regional ingredient changes
  • Recipe updates not yet reflected in published data

⚠️ For Medical or Allergy-Related Needs

For medical conditions, allergies, or strict dietary requirements, users should always verify information directly with the restaurant or consult a qualified healthcare professional. Our calculator is intended for general informational use only.
